Meet Our Caregivers

The primary focus of Adult & Child Health’s Leadership Team is to support our direct care staff and our clients & patients in the long-term attainment of healthy life goals. We believe strong leaders are transformational in nature and empower staff to grow and innovate.

A&C’s mission is driven by the incredible compassion of our team. The needs of our growing client and patient base push us to innovate & collaborate in new ways to continuously evolve and strengthen our services.

Medical Providers

Dr. Negendank provides medication management and leads the adult psychiatry team, collaborating with nurse practitioners, and helping develop agency policies and procedures. Dr. Negendank is board-certified in adult psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, and addiction medicine.

She began her medical training at Wayne State University and completed a psychiatric residency at the University of Michigan. Dr. Negendank served as chief resident and devoted many elective hours to the homeless outreach clinic. In her forensic psychiatry fellowship, she developed expertise in violence and suicide risk assessments, provided expert witness testimony, and performed evaluations for those defendants requesting competency and not guilty by reason of insanity.

Since, she has worked in community mental health, often serving and advocating for jailed and homeless individuals. When not working she enjoys spending time with her family, competing in triathlons, & keeping up with her children’s passions of art, music, and archery.

Dr. Siddiqui is board certified in Psychiatry and in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, having completed his Residency and Fellowship at New York Medical College.

He has been with Adult & Child since 2015 and has been awarded multiple awards including the Clinical Excellence Award and Outstanding Intern by New York Medical College.

Dr. Banks is a primary care physician with his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Nova Southeastern University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Jamaica Queens, New York City.

Dr. Banks brings significant family medicine and primary care experience to A&C, working to treat Hoosiers across the state since 2008. Dr. Banks joined Adult & Child Health in at the end of 2021 and is currently accepting new patients.

Dr. Coats graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with a BA in Biological Sciences before attending IU School of Medicine Indianapolis. He then completed a Residency in Psychiatry and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Dr. Coats served as Chief of Staff of Valle Vista Hospital in Greenwood, IN for 11 years and directed all the Child and Adolescent Programs both Acute and Residential. He came to the Adult and Child Center in 1998 and continued to serve in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Served as Medical Director of Adult and Child Health Services until recently, now serving as Associate Chief Medical Officer to Dr. Negendank. His duties include direct patient care of Child and Adolescent patients at the 8320 Madison Ave office and providing collaboration to the Child and Adolescent APN’s. He has also served Intecare as their Medical Director.

He enjoys spending time with his wife and twin daughters.

Samantha Wagner graduated from Hanover College with a BA in biology before attending IU School of Medicine. She then remained in Indianapolis at the IU School of Medicine and completed a residency in general psychiatry and then fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry. She grew up in an Indianapolis suburb and has enjoyed living in downtown Indianapolis since graduating from college. She has clinical interests in community mental health, specifically the impacts of social determinants of health and trauma on the development and mental health of children and adolescents. She is also interested in treating substance abuse disorders in young people and working with early on-set psychosis.

In her free time she can be found roaming around downtown with her four-legged best (dog) friend Cricket. She also enjoys painting, refinishing furniture and generally pretending to be crafty. Also a lover of live music and spending time with family and friends.

Shavon Donald began her career in health care by working in the stepdown ICU at IU Methodist Hospital and transitioned to inpatient medical psychiatry while at Methodist. She gained experience in retail health, urgent care, and family practice before joining the A&C team in 2016. She has served Adult & Child in both adult psychiatry services and addiction medicine.

In addition to her clinical experience, Shavon’s academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Indianapolis, where she graduated magna cum laude.

In her free time, Shavon enjoys spending time and traveling with her husband and two daughters, reading, and exercising. She is a strong advocate for empowering nurses, and believes that nurses should play a pivotal role in shaping modern health care.

Tina Baxter holds a master’s degree in nursing education and a post-master’s certificate as gerontological nurse practitioner from the University of Indianapolis. She previously worked as a nurse practitioner in many behavioral health settings and is an educator, previously teaching as adjunct faculty at the University of Indianapolis, Anderson University, and Ivy Tech Community College. She is a faculty member and educator for PESI Healthcare where she serves as a national speaker, building upon her past experience as a national speaker for SAMSHA.

Tina has served in many organizations & board appointments including the Indiana State Nurses Association, American Red Cross, Madison County Minority Health Coalition, Black Nurses Association of Anderson, Indiana INC, Anderson/Madison County Black Chamber of Commerce, Concerned Ministers of Anderson, American Association of University Women, and many others.

She is married to her husband of more than two decades. She serves as an evangelist and a commissioned parish nurse for her local congregation. Baxter enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching movies and reading.

Nicolette Baer, MSN PMHNP-BC, joined A&C in 2018. She specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry.

Nicolette received her ASN from Marian College and her BSN from U of I. She then graduated magna cum laude from Indiana Wesleyan with her MSN.

Nicolette previously spent 20 years in ER/trauma at IU Health Methodist, where she specialized in forensic nursing with sexual and physical abuse, IPV, testifying, and bereavement flight nursing. She also traveled with Indy Racing League and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Raised in Indianapolis, Nicolette enjoys spending time with family and friends, entertaining, music, sports, traveling, new adventures, and living life to the fullest.

Cheryl Swearingen joined A&C in 2024 with Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees in Kinesiology and Nursing from Indiana University, an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Surgical Technology from Ivy Tech, and a Master of Science (MS) degree in Nursing from Chamberlain University.

After working in sports medicine and as a surgical technician, Cheryl became a nurse practitioner in 2017. She has since provided primary care services to over 1500 patients of all ages, treating acute conditions and helping patients manage chronic conditions. Cheryl takes a preventative approach to care, and helps her patients achieve their wellness goals by taking the time to listen and understand.

Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, running, playing tennis, and spending time with her friends and family.

Christy Dixon began her career in health care as a lab assistant in the early 80’s and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1985. She obtained her Registered Nurse degree in 1989, and graduated from IUPUI in 2012 as a Nurse Practitioner. All of her clinical experience has been in mental health and she has worked with all populations with Psychiatric-Mental Health needs, in settings including outpatient, inpatient acute care for patients with psychiatric substance abuse needs, inpatient residential care and state hospitals for patients with long-term psychiatric needs.

Christy’s specific interests in psychiatry are patients with mood and thought disorders, as well as caring for patients who have survived trauma. She enjoys precepting nurse practitioner students and is interested in working to streamline systems in healthcare delivery models.

Naynil Patel joined A&C in 2024 as a Family Nuse Practitioner with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Indiana State University. He has more than eight years of direct patient care experience and is fluent in three languages – Gujarati, Hindi and English.

Motivated, humble and passionate about promoting health and wellness in the community, Naynil uses a hybrid model of traditional and alternative medicine to benefit his patients.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing cricket and volleyball, going on road trips and participating in humanitarian efforts.

Before my healthcare career, Sylvia received a BSc in Human Development and Family Sciences and worked with children and their families. Years later, after receiving her BSN, Sylvia began her nursing career in 2012 as a psych nurse in a residential and behavioral center for children and adolescents. Through the years, she has worked in different aspects of nursing, from home health to mentoring and educating nursing students, and dabbled in the business side of healthcare. Having amassed a variety of experiences, Sylvia chose to pursue an MSN degree and became a board-certified PMHNP. Sylvia is excited to join Adult & Child Health, and looks forward to providing quality mental health services across the lifespan.

When not working, Sylvia is busy completing a post-graduate DNP program, spending time with her husband and their three young children and being involved in their church. Sylvia and her family enjoy traveling, watching movies and family shows, baking, and having play dates with friends.
