Adult & Child Health was a state leader in the implementation of Assertive Community Treatment, a multi-disciplinary community based treatment for mental illness designed to provide community based wraparound services for adults who experience serious mental illness. While most Indiana providers have been forced to modify the Assertive Community Treatment team model due to funding reductions, Adult and Child Health has worked very hard to continue the critical aspects of the model.

Our Therapists and Skills Development Specialists continue to provide services in our consumers’ homes and communities. We continue to use a multi-disciplinary team comprised of Psychiatry, Team Leaders, Therapist, Skills Development Specialists, Nurses, Peer Specialists, and Job Coaches to engage and support our consumers.

Peer Specialists are a unique part of our Community Based Treatment Teams. A Peer Specialist is a person who has been engaged in mental health treatment, has demonstrated recovery, and has the skills and desire to help others experience recovery through coaching and support.
